Before Your Appointment

Write down your questions ahead of time. In the moment, it's easy to forget what you wanted to ask. Keep a running note on your phone throughout the week and bring it to the appointment.

General Questions for Every Visit

  • Is my baby's growth on track?
  • Are they meeting developmental milestones?
  • Is their feeding/eating appropriate for their age?
  • How is their sleep? Any concerns?
  • When is the next visit and what vaccines are due?
  • What symptoms should prompt me to call?

Newborn Visits (First Month)

  • Is the umbilical cord healing properly?
  • Is jaundice a concern?
  • How do I know if baby is getting enough milk?
  • Is their weight gain adequate?
  • What's normal for newborn skin (rashes, baby acne)?

2-6 Month Visits

  • When can we start tummy time? How much?
  • Is it okay that baby hasn't rolled over yet?
  • What's the current recommendation on starting solids?
  • Should I be concerned about flat spots on their head?

6-12 Month Visits

  • What foods should we introduce and avoid?
  • Is baby ready to try finger foods?
  • When should baby be sleeping through the night?
  • Is it normal that they don't have teeth yet?
  • What baby-proofing should we prioritize?

Pro Tips

  • Bring your tracking logs. Showing feeding, sleep, and diaper patterns helps the doctor assess your baby quickly.
  • Ask about the next stage. What should you expect in the coming weeks?
  • Don't be shy. No question is too small. That's what they're there for!
